Single
Yaxlich received a wedding invitation this morning. It made him sad. Not because his friends were getting married. No. He thinks they will make a lovely couple and have beautiful, if slightly disfunctional, babies. No. The reason he is sad is because the invite was sent to 'Yaxlich'. Not 'Yaxlich + 1'. Just 'Yaxlich'. Even his friends know that Yaxlich won't have a girlfriend by June. |

M&2S is sad for Yaxlich that his friends were so insensitive. She thinks that Yaxlich must be meeting loads of new people all the time since he started his job. Yaxlich's friends are simply not giving him enough credit.
M&2S has also never known someone to send out their wedding invitations a month before the wedding. She suggests that Yaxlich's friends have a screw loose.
Yaxlich is meeting new people but he's very shy. Talking to girls makes him feel all nervous and everything.
They had sent out electronic versions of the invites at the beginning of the year but, for whatever reason, decided to send out paper ones too.
My busiest summer of weddings (two years ago) also coincided with a period of being single.
It was absolutely brilliant. You should be very excited. Really.
You can hit on the bridesmaids (which does have the odd downside), and most single women in attendance will be at their peak level of susceptibility to a charming man (you are charming, right?).
One tip however, do not sit down at the singles table and open the conversation with, "So, do we throw our keys into the bowl now, or after dinner?". I was clearly too funny for them and so didn't pull at that particular wedding.
Mr.X finally found a nice lady after a very long time, so is quite sure Yaxlich can do so as well. Hopefully soon!
But from experience Mr.X found it very embarrassing to be at weddings etc as the only singleton in the bunch, and sympathises with Yaxlich's plight.
But at least if he gets lucky now, the underpants will be clean and new for that important first impression.
So your friends are, in fact, doing you a favour.
Aren't they lovely?
Maybe Yaxlich's friends know that there will be single girls for Yaxlich to meet at the wedding.
Aww, that's sweet, that Yaxlich is shy. Don't worry Yaxlich, there are lots of nice girls out there who like shy guys. Girls are not that bad, so Yaxlich doesn't have to be nervous.
yaxlich, i have a bit of a crush on you, can i come?
Yaxlich is lucky, girlfriends cost money!
enidd thinks yaxlich should email his friends saying that he'd just got married, but as his wife was not invited, he's divorcing her.
she also thinks a lot of women prefer shy, funny, men to egocentric, extrovert bores.
Poor Yaxlich. you must be feeling very dejected. It is much cheaper going to a wedding as a singleton cos you only have to buy drinks for yourself.
Perhaps you may catch the bride's bouquet and then as tradition states you will be married next!
Alcessa had a similar problem for some years. She always took her favourite cousin with her to all those weddings since he was an interesting person to talk to and she finds most weddings boring...
Well if foppy poofy unfunny old Hugh Grant can pull at a wedding then so can Yaxlich (can you tell I just watched 4 weddings again? thought so)
Never mind - Yaxlich is very funny and girls do like funny men. He'll be alright. But maybe not by June.
Awwww that's a bit harsh. I think you should get one by then just to spite them :)
What a shame, poor Yaxlich.
He's housetrained, clean and tidy and puts on fresh underpants every day. What more could a girl want?
Keith thinks he would make a good husband to some poor unsuspecting girl someday.
No no, JohnG, not all girls cost money. Some girls like going for walks, sitting by a river, reading books together, that sort of thing.
[Just trying to encourage Yaxlich not to be scared of girls...]
Don't feel so bad Yaxlich. My own family doesn't bother adding 'and guest' to my invites.
That's when you know you're doomed.
But Yaxlich might get a girlfriend by June, and then Yaxlich could simply ask his friends whether he can bring her?
Ahh poor Yxlich. I agree with Enidd though. Don't think that all girls like the bravado types of men..............
I am SURE that there are probaly lots of shy single girls who read your blog who would love to go to that wedding with you..........
They are probably sitting at home thinking: Will he say yes, will he say no? And then they are probably thinking: he's really clever, he'll think I'm stupid...........
People think in strange ways and hardly anyone just tells the straightforward truth when it comes to dating.
Fingers crossed for you Yax, I'm sure you won't be single for too long!
Happy hunting.
Ahh Yax - you should have told them in Jan that you had a lady love and you wished to bring her, then held a create a special pair of wedding pants for Yaxlich here - winner goes to the wedding. Think of the fun and pants you could have!
And you still have time...
The wedding would be a great place for Yaxlich to meet new and interesting people... I hope :)
OK you have been sulking for a week, now that's enough.
All weddings need eligible single men (for the bridesmaids?) to dance (cop off?) with, so you should have a good time. Before you know it you could be making disfunctional babies of your own !!
Yaxlich! We miss you!! I'm not single, and so i an't offer to come to the wedding with you, but Eliza has offered. Can we have a post? Are you O.K.?
Mr Farty suggests Yaxlich posts a dating ad on t'internet. The ladies will come flocking like bees to a scarecrow.
Mr Farty isn't strong on metaphors.
Mr Angry - Yaxlich knows most of the single girls who will be attending this particular wedding. He thinks one of them had a face fire and someone put it out with a shovel.
Mr X - Yaxlich isn't sure that showing his clean underpants would make a very good first impression but if it worked for you...
M&2S - That is one way of looking at it.
GG - Girls are not bad, you are correct. However he gets very embarrassed around them. He thinks it's because they have bosoms.
Eliza - Do you want to be Yaxlich's +1?
John G - This is something Yaxlich has learnt to his cost in the past.
Enidd - He'll let you know if this is the case after the wedding.
Tillylil - Normally by the time the brides bouquet is thrown Yaxlich is asleep at the bar with his face in a bowl of peanuts.
Alcessa - Yaxlich doesn't have a favourite cousin. Maybe he could take the old woman from downstairs.
Wendz - Are you coming to England in June?
Iggy - He's trying his best.
Keith - This is a very kind thing you say. However he thinks it's a bit rude to marry someone who isn't expecting it.
GG - He tried to read a copy of Readers Wives with a girfriend once. That didn't work out so well.
Babs - That's cheered Yaxlich up a bit although he's sorry to hear that you're an outcast from your own family.
Ariel - He would love to do that. Turn up at the wedding with a stunning girlfriend and see the looks on their faces. He might have to borrow someone elses but it would be worth it.
Sally - Yaxlich invites them to form an orderly queue although it's only fair to point out that Eliza is currently at the front.
Meredic - Any hunting stories will be told on this blog, of that you can be assured.
Sim - What a brilliant idea. That's given him something to blog about. A Blue Peter style competition on his blog...
Terra - He'll let you know if that's the case in June.
Nonny - Yaxlich was not sulking. He was resting.
Sally - Yaxlich listened to you on the radio. You sounded very good. He hopes you get lots more voice over work soon.
Mr Farty - No but it's the thought that counts.
