Feeling Mondayne
Yaxlich went out earlier for an interview for a job. It's the first one he's had in ages. He didn't think it went well. He's obviously out of practice. As a result he has written down lots of tricky questions on a piece of paper and when he's least expecting it, he's going to ask himself one of the tricky questions to see how well he answers it. He'll let you know how he gets on. In other news, Yaxlich has just read about the new Borat movie which is coming out next month. There's an interesting article about it on the BBC website. Can any of his American readers tell him what a "dadgum phone" is? |

A dadgum phone. I suppose it is almost an expletive...like GD phone. Mostly used by people in the Southeastern united states....not all of them of course. You may have also heard: gosh derned phone, gosh danged phone etc. Or, perhaps not.
Yaxlich understands now. Is this a bit like dangnabbit? He's always likes that word since hearing it on cartoons as he grew up. He's never really had an opportunity to say it out loud before which he did, incidentally, as he was typing it.
Just so's you know.
Yaxlich thanks Jessica for her explanation.
Yaxlich wonders whether it was speaking in the third person or mentioning his medical condition which created the somewhat unusual atmosphere in the interview.
He thinks that, perhaps, he might avoid both at his next one.
Hey, yaxlich, dadgum is Southern yokel colloquial for doggone. Might be something you'd hear on a Western like Gunsmoke or the Disney animated version of Robin Hood, which has characters with Southern drawls--go figure.
Or daddy had sticky hands...
Yaxlich is pleased to have picked up a new word to use. He will attempt to use it at least once a day over here in England.
