Yaxlich Needs Your Help
One of the things that Yaxlich hates about being out work is the fact that he no longer has any money to buy books. As you probably know, Yaxlich loves books. When he used to work he would regularly go to the bookstore and pick up 3-4 new books a month. Sadly he hasn't been able to afford any new books for months now and, as a result, he now only has 3 books left in his collection that he hasn't read so he needs your help. Which book should he read next? He has just finished reading (again) Rain Men by Marcus Berkmann which is a brilliantly written book about village cricket. The only books left unread are Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Allen Carr There are various reasons why these are the only unread books in his collection and he won't bore you with the reasons why. He'll simply ask his readers to vote and tell him which one to read next. |

John.g. suggests The Afghan, by
Frederick Forsyth..AWESOME.
Or, Spike Milligan, Where have all the bullets gone, this should appeal to Yaxlich`s sense of humour.. excellent!!
Yaxlich only has these 3 books left in his collection. Whilst he will make a mental note to read The Afghan, he doesn't have any other options apart from the three books listed. Sad but true.
Yaxlich has got the Essential Spike Milligan in his collection. Perhaps he could read that again.
Why does john.g. have to enter all those silly letters to post a comment(the ones by the disabled sign), when he`s already disabled?
Jan 29, 2000.
Here are some ideas.
1) sell some alread read books on Amazon to support your reading habit.
2) infact sell the Celesting Prophecy - one of the most stupid books ever written.
3) try the library unil your books start selling.
crikey not 'alread' but 'already'.
I suggest you read the "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" first. And you can share to me how to quit smoking because I'm also having a hard time. :) We can help each other out, what ya think?
Start with Nietzsche, but every time you encounter the word "therefore", you have to switch book, until the next "therefore" or until the book is finished.
This appeal for votes isn't working out so well, is it?
Read Easy Way to Stop Smoking. If it works you'll have more time left to read the others.
None of them. What a dismal selection you have left. Celestine is utter crap, Nietshce is too hard and Easy Way only works if you want to stop with all your being...it didn't work for me however, even though I'd love to stop smoking.
Sell them, as Anon suggested...but sell them on eBay - its faster than Amazon. And yeah - go to the library. Lots of books there.
Prophecies-good toilet paper, haven't read Nietzche-would try but detest melancholy philosophy, don't need to quit smoking.
Where is your library card? Did you break it? 10 days after moving here to Paris, I got my library card and can't live without it. I don't have any in come just out go so must limit expenditures too.
I suggest East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Read Allen Carr first. If it works then Yaxlich will have more money to buy books which are much much nicer than cigarettes. And Zarathustra made KT chain smoke - she hopes it doesn't have the same effect on Yaxlich.
If Yaxlich read the Allen Carr book and stopped smoking, he would then have more money to buy books.
Nietzsche. You'll be just as bored as with the other two, but it carries more kudos with certain kinds of loose moralled laydees at certain kinds of parties. Yaxlich knows what I mean.
Yaxlich should read:
Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Friedrich Nietzsche.
Only then will Yaxlich want to smoke something a lot stronger.
John G - only Smarties (and Google) have the answer
Anonymous - Yaxlich couldn't imagine anything worse than selling his books. They are like his babies only with less sick.
Lar - As Wendz points out, Yaxlich thinks that you need to actually want to quit for it to work. However, should he decide it's time to stop smoking, he will most certainly announce it on his blog and hope that other people will join him too.
Huw - It's not going that well but, in fairness, the selection wasn't that great.
Iggy - Do you mean that in terms of Yaxlich will live longer because he has stopped smoking or because he will have reclaimed the hour a day he spends in the physical act of smoking?
Wendz - The dismal selection is precisely the reason they're the last ones left.
CJ - Yaxlich has no idea where his library card is. He might have to get another one.
KT - Books are much nicer than cigarettes but they're not as easy to smoke.
Ms Minx - Yaxlich would also be too fat from eating chocolate to be able to waddle to the bookshelves.
Jack - Yaxlich is unsure whether loose moralled laydees would know what Yaxlich was talking about. He is sure that if he said Nietzsche at a party, the loose moralled laydees would think he had a cold.
Canute - Yaxlich was sorry to hear about that sea thing.
Prometheus suggest imbibing great works of literature like the exploits of M/s. Beavis and Butthead.
Frddy has never heard of Celestine Prophecy and assumes that Yaxlich bought it on a whim at some point.
Freddy thinks that if there were an easy way to stop smoking everyone would have done it by now so wouldn't bother with that.
Therefore - read the Nietzsche. Then please post a summary here to allow us to impress loose-oralled women at parties without having to read it first.
ta
It must be really pants to not be able to afford the simple pleasure of buying a book.
Therefore, if Yaxlich would like me to send him some of my already read books he can send me an email. I promise not to send soppy love stories.
Being anonymous and obviously not Emily... ahem... I can vote for The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield without getting heavy things thrown at my head by everyone else. Yay!
Ahem....
Anon, stop pretending to be Anon, and you too first Anon, which is obviously not the same person as second Anon.
This is now too confusing.
So Yaxlich my dear this Anon is retiring.
Sorry. I don't know how to unanon myself. But really. The Celestine thingy was a really suckie book and poorly written. Try it and see. Dare you to get through it without either laughing out loud ( where it isn't intended to be funny ) or chunking it across the room. Double dog dare you.
in some contexts I am Littlebear.
NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy. NOT Celestine Prophesy.
Please.
Prometheus - did they write a book? If so Yaxlich would like to read it.
Freddy - The Celestine Prophecy was a gift from a friend of Yaxlich's. He feels that having had the gift for 10 years that he ought to read it at some point.
Wendz - Yaxlich thanks you for your kind offer and may well take you up on that.
Anonymous' - Yaxlich is confused.
Tish - What are you trying to say?
Oh Tish isn't sure, she was just on a bit of a roll. Sorry.
Was it a cheese roll? Yaxlich likes cheese rolls with a little bit of pickle.
The former. It seems to me like a good time to give up now anyway, what witht he total ban on smoking in public places coming into effect in July. Best to get a head start don't you think?
Fortunately Yaxlich got some new books for Christmas so is spared from having to read the dregs of his book cupboard. He is just going to have to read them slowly.
